Prime Pantry is a store where Prime members can shop for groceries and household products in everyday package sizes (for example, a single box of cereal). The introduction of Prime Pantry allowed Amazon to expand its selection and offer thousands of items to Prime Members that are cost prohibitive to ship for free individually.
You can shop Prime Pantry’s selection online or using the free Amazon app. Prime Pantry also provides great value with weekly deals and coupons on many popular items.
The Prime Pantry fulfillment center at New Century stocks nearly 15,000 items at any time and ships by truck load to other warehouses in region for “last mile” delivery to customer’s homes. The facility is 464,000 square-feet and will employ 600 within a few years. After renovating the former Kimberly Clark building, Amazon added approximately $20 million in robotics that do most of the product picking from shelves after a customer places an order.
Though not officially announced due to company delays in introducing the new product concept to the market, leases are signed and executed. Significant retrofit of former Kimberly Clark building is underway. Company expects 600 full time employees within 5 years. An official announcement is expected after first of year.
